Garret shifted back in to his room his eyes squeezed hard together as he suddenly collapsed on to his knees and groaned. During his fight he had managed to hide the pain in his shoulder. But now there was no point in holding back "oh cr*p!" he shouted as his left hand shot up to his right shoulder that had been licked with flames. "Ok don't give that guy a warning" a small trickle of blood going down his lip.

Clara yerked from her seat on his bed. She had come to talk to him about the situation between them and her plans to find and return Matt to her side. She instantly got to her feet and rushed over to Garret. "OMG are you okay?" She crouched down beside him and reached out to touch his burns. "Where have you been? Who did this? Garret?" She whispered then jumped to her feet and hurried over to the bathroom to get a cold cloth to place it on his burn. She wouldn't delve into his mind since she would need all her strenght for Matt. She needed to make sure she would get him back and maybe it was easier for her to do so if she had strenght of her powers.

"Clara?" he asked as he let out a deep groan as he felt her suddenly push a cold pack to his shoulder. "I was meant to shift to the compound not here. " he whispered his eyes now wide open as yet another yelp of pain escaped his lips. "Mutant gang. Decided to try and torture a human." he said as he tried to keep the images of Craven and John out of his mind but instead filled them with black shadows. "They were about to kill him and I could not stand by and do nothing."

Clara narrowed her eyes slightly as she listened to him and then winched as he cried out in pain. "These look like burn wounds..." She began then smirked dropping her gaze as she thought of a human being tortured. Good he probably deserved it. "Lets get you over to the bed." She gently hooked her arm in his and helped him up. "The mutant that did this seems pretty powerfull." One guess who? She lay him down on the bed and hurried back to rinse the cloth with more cold water. She returned to Garrets side and again put the cloth on his wounds.
Clara reached out her other hand to brush the blood from his lip with her forefinger. "You should be carefull who you deal with and you shouldn't go poking your nose where it isn't wanted Garret." She said in a rather cruel way and she admired her finger and the blood on it. Her eyes seemed rather cold as then settled on garret. "There are groups in this City that are dangerous if you happen to be on the wrong side."

"Clara if I want things to change then I have to do something" he said as he looked up to Clara's eyes for just one moment and moved over to the bed. "besides it was not like i did not have my escape all planed out all ready."
He let out a gently sigh hearing the harshly cold tone in her voice "and no one deserves to be treated the way they were treating that man. It was the same way i was treated at the orphanage. No one deserves that." he grunted for a moment in pain before glancing over towards where he had left his blades the gift from Sai before he left. "I should have taken thouse with me the bloody mutant would not have dared used his powers after my first strike."

Clara smirked her eyes shifting over to the blades. She wasn't sure if Garret had noticed yet... How could he. Slowly she reached out for the lamp light and switched it on. The room filled with light. A soft glow fell on Clara's eyes... They had changed... well atleast one had changed. One was still vibrantly blue while the other was now brown. A gift from the council. A mark to remind her of the trade. Now he would notice and what would her say?
"Who said I wanted things to change? Things are changing with or without you." She removed her hand from the cloth on his shoulder and folded them in her lap. "The kouken are in for a rough time Garret... You should pick the correct side... thats all I'm saying." Craven had spoken to her about taking Cooper on... she was starting to consider it. One more threat towards Matt and she would. She would take Cooper on and she would take Elite from under his nose with Craven by her side...

"Clara?" he asked for just a moment his eyes now resting on hers "since when have you been had different eyes?" he asked his gut suddenly contracting knowing that something had changed something was wrong, different. "What has happened?" he asked, as he noticed not a single hint of sadness in her eyes. "And what about the right side? I went where you told me? You said the Kouken was best for me?”

"I made a deal with the devil." She smirked. Her eyes locked onto Garrets. "What if I told you diffrent now? Would you follow me? Would you remain by my side no matter what?" She was being serious now. Her smile faded and her expression became cold once again. "Theres a war coming... I need to know where your loyalty's lie Garret... With me ... or with them?" Her only goal was to reveal if Garret was an enemy or a friend. Tonight she would leave the Institute for good. She needed to know if Garret would stand by her side.

"I love you Clara,” he said, as he looked deep in to her eyes. His own filled deeply with sincerity "but I don't understand? What is it you are asking of me? Why does the kouken have anything to do with you and me? And what is this deal?" he asked again his voice now starting to have that slight fear that slight uncertainty. "You know you can’t deal with the devil and win"

Clara winced at his word... He loved her... she loved him too but she loved matt far more. She gulped and sighed. "I'm leaving the institute... for good.. Tonight." She anounced. "I'm going home.. My home... " She toke a moment to decide whether she sould give it all to him in one go and break his heart into a million pieces at one or just tear it appart bit by bit. She then smirked again. "I am the enemy... The Kouken was called because of me... because of the Elite... I am Elite...We use non-mutants and agree with human slavery... we run the crime ring in the City... Do you love me or do you love the people that tortured and hurt you? Would you join me... Would you stay by my side?" She reached out to touch his cheek brushing her finger down his cheek before retracting her hand again and standing up and stepping away from him. She held out her hand her eyes soft on him. "I protected you and looked after you... I taught you... I have always been there for you... will you do the same for me?"

For a moment he seemed shocked almost as if he did not believe it. His eyes slowly closed and his head was hung down for a moment as tears welled up in his eyes. "You’re no better then those that used to beat me,” he said as his eyes came up and rested firmly on hers. They were no longer that hypnotic colour that could entice her to grow weak at the knee. "I thought you were different but you’re just the same as those humans,” he said as he suddenly shifted over to where his blades were. "If you chose that life you chose a life with out me next to you. And you wont be the only one leaving the institute."

Clara dropped her hand by her side her smile faded for an instant then returned. She dropped her head. "Weapons...?" She asked softly. "You think you can actually push a blade through my body?"She lifted her head questiongly. "No I'm not like those humans. I sent you to the Kouken and I simply desired your return to me. " She stepped forwards and set on his bed again. She knew that at any moment he would shift away. Her eyes lifted to him. "I made a deal... I traded my sou for Matt's... Theres five months left..." The she got to her feed and walked to the door. She paused then her hand on the handle. "Fare well Garret."
